ARTIST - JEAN LONGONE

I grew up drawing, painting and sketching in south Texas.  Formal training in fine art began in 1976 at SAC at San Antonio Texas.  That was interrupted because as a military wife, we moved, and moved, and then moved again.  I started and stopped college courses all over the world until finally, it was back to Texas in 1982, and studies at TLU in Seguin and SAC in San Antonio, this time focusing on graphic art and print design.  At present, I work in many mediums, depending upon the project, which include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, computer graphics, and web-page  design. In 1997, my partner and I started a custom picture framing business in New Braunfels Texas.  Today along with the framing business,  we sell fine art supplies, and curate a contemporary art gallery.  All of my art, in whatever media, is a personal piece of my life or experiences that I feel a need to express.  To me it doesn't matter if my own intentions and feelings are mirrored in those who interact with my work.  What is important is to let my art speak for itself and allow each individual to react from within their own personal experiences, not mine.  Art work must be strong enough to speak in it's own language in order to be successful in connecting and reaching others.  Otherwise it's just another pretty picture.
